Popcorn ... 7/10 ... It has it's campy horror flick appeal. Which also brings with it, the campy horror flick crap that makes you wince while watching such a film. Release date says 1991, so it's in that weird decade transition where it looks like it was actually shot in 1987. So, there you have it campy fun, but campy crap at the same time.

Scanners ... 7/10 ... I don't think I've ever seen a young Michael Ironsides before. This certainly was an interesting movie, but it lacked a deeper story which would have made it better. However, the early 80's electronic music was really hard to bear.

The Wolfman ... 8/10 ... I found it entertaining, and a nice update to the original story. However, I found some of the special effects to be very rushed and shoddy. I think the were-wolves were cool looking, though I wanted to see a more wolfish face than what we saw. Overall, I found it entertaining

Silent Movie ... 7.5/10 ... Essentially, Mel Brooks created a live action Warner Bros. cartoon. It's got it's ups and downs. I did get a little bored with it at times, but then there would be a few good laughs that kept me watching.

Cherish ... 7/10 ... I'm not exactly sure what the name of the movie had to do with anything, and I mostly watched it because in the synopsis said the main character was an animator. Yeah, there was very little mention of that. But it is a charming movie, and Tim Blake Nelson being a love interest for this girl was an interesting, but good choice, because he played the part well. The casting was well done, and the acting was pretty good, but the editing was weird, and the film didn't really know what it wanted to be. Still, good background noise while I did my bank work.

Predators - 8/10

Good but not great.  Some good nods to the original 87 movie.  The scene with Hanzo in the field is short but sweet.  Liked the designs of the new Preds and character interactions during the progress of the film.

Predators ^^ ... same sentiments here, 8/10, but I didn't like the designs as much. Not that I thought they were bad, just a little weaker than they could have been. But still fun. I like that they used the same music as the 87 movie.

Predators - 8/10

It was a great film imo, very easy to get into. The characters are established well and the antagonists are fucking beastly. The nods to the first predator were apparent but didn't make the film any less. The only thing that really bugged me was that they didn't really show a lot of the predators. I mean, yeah I get that they're stealthy and you want a more character driven story but not seeing them on screen kind of took away from it.

After seeing this I am SO making a predator costume, after I'm done with my Jason part 6 mask.

Scream ... 7/10 ... Not as good as I remember it back in high school, back when Matthew Lillard, and Skeet Ulrich, Neve Campbell, and Rose McGowan all became popular. Now where are they? Right. Anyway, it's decent, but not great. Fun to watch while opening toys.

Inception - 10/10

Holy crap what an intellectual movie!  This is the smartest movie I've seen in 2010.  Great acting all around, multi-layered plot and excellent action sequences.  The fight in the hotel was wicked!

Crazy Heart 9/10  Good movie, I can see why Jeff Bridges won an Oscar.

Step Brothers ... Boats and Hos/10 ... Pretty funny. Though I feel like 1) Will Ferrel and John C. Reilly characters are basically becoming interchangeable. And 2) John C. Reilly is just an uglier version of Will Ferrel. Still it was pretty funny and I wanted to kill Derek and his family the instant I saw them. But still, pretty obnoxious yet funny movie.

The Other Guys - 8.5/10

Very funny flick.  I was worried the first time I saw the trailer thinking it'd be a flop like 1) Land of the Lost or 2) Cop Out.  Thankfully, it delivered the laughs and was worth the price of admission.  Plot was rather weak and I didn't care much for it but the back and forth banter between Ferrel and Wahlberg totally made up for it.

The Expendables - 8/10

Holy crap what a ride!  Lots of explosions, stuff getting shot and even car chases!  Total dude movie.  Loved Terry Crew's auto-shotgun (same one Brody used in Predators).

Both the above movies will be instant buys on day 1.

Donnie Brasco ... 8.5/10 ... New York mafia crime drama based on a true story. Good movie. Also, back when Anne Heche was hot.

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World ... 9/10

Surprisingly enjoyable and fun movie!  Loved the way the movie was presented and even though I didn't read the graphic novels prior to seeing it, I still followed it no problem and thought it was great!

Observe and Report ... 3/10

It seemed funny at the beginning but then it just went down hill.  Don't know what the point of the movie was.  It just became really dumb.  A waste of PVR space.

Triangle ... 7.5/10 ... A somewhat depressing and morbid version of Groundhog Day, or as the film announces 35 minutes into the movie, a retelling of the Greek Sisyphus myth. It's got some nice mind-bendy moments, and the ending is interesting. But ultimately a little too morbid for my tastes.

Conan the Destroyer .... 7.5/10 ... if this were made today, people would laugh at it. But because it was made in the 80's I think it's pretty cool. Well, I'm sure people still laugh at it, and it doesn't quite have the oomf that the first Conan movie had due to the forced comedy relief by that raspy voiced guy. Still, we need more movies about Conan.

Good!

The Breed ... 6/10 .... So what exactly happened?

Here's what happened. Someone made a "don't be racist movie with vampires." On top of that, the director really makes it look like totalitarian regimes are a good thing. Basically the good guys are part of the Soviet Union. Hokay. An odd, seems like it was made for SyFy movie, which was more laughable than anything else.

Jack-O ... 3/10 ... A drunk guy in a big rubber jack-o-lantern mask runs around and murders bad actors. Maybe I should have rated this higher.

Zombie Death House .... 4/10 ... Cheese ball flick made in the early 80s. Corny soundtrack included free of charge.

The Woods ... 8/10 ... The actual good horror movie I watched this weekend, and included Bruce Campbell in a non-goofy, non-we-have-Bruce-Campbell-for-the-kitsch-appeal role. It was a small part, but still, actually a pretty good story.
