Forest of Death ... 6/10 ... An interesting movie, just kind of slow and directionless. Seriously, throughout the movie, as characters are talking to each other, one will make a statement that just does not make any sense. I don't know if that was a problem with the translation or what, but it often made you wonder what was going on. The show isn't very creepy or suspenseful, and there's certainly some odd science going on, in the form of communicating with plants. And then there's a twist at the end that just makes you go, Huh?!

Organizm .... 6.5/10 ... Has that made for TV feel, though it has some boobies in it towards the end. The effects are terrible and the acting is just as bad. It's got a typical don't wake the "insert object of doom here" plot. And then the military, as usual, goes in to blow to smithereens what they can't blow to smithereens. It's good for background noise.

Shrooms ... 7/10 ... An interesting movie but a distinct lack of plot and a twist that you'll either see coming a mile away, or if you don't see it coming, then it just comes out of left field and is a tad puzzling, and feels a little cheap for explaining it the way it does. I am a little tired of seeing a bunch of characters getting killed off that I don't like or care for, especially these high school/college kid movies, in which none of the characters are likable or relateable. There's always the douchey overconfident jock, his slut girlfriend, the good girl who likes another guy, the hippy stoner, .. and you don't care about any of them. IMO, what makes a horror movie good is when you care about the characters. Eh, it had some entertainment value.

Dead Moon Rising ... 4/10 ... Some local yokels from Louisville, Kentucky decided they want to make a zombie flick. So they did, terribly. They try to gloss over the poor production value with 4th wall narration, tongue in cheek humor and zombie movie cliches aplenty. It's the typical zombie plot, of group of people trying to survive and at least two or three of them already have a past. And of course they have to shoehorn their distaste for Christianity into some forced dialogue that is amazingly more forced than the rest of the dialogue. One of the characters just should have said "Christians are stupid" at a random point in the movie without any context, it would have made much more sense than the little prolonged discussion they filmed.
The ONLY saving grace of this flick is this ass kicking chick that just appears out of no where. She can act slightly better than the rest of the cast, and her fighting is the most fake looking crap ever, but she is damn sexy. She's just one of those chicks who knows how to carry herself that way.
Anyway, don't waste your time. Unless you want to see the sexy chick.

Desperado ... 7/10 ... I don't think I'd seen this since like 1997. Still good fun.

It's Alive ... 5/10 ... Not sure what to say about this, other than it's a weird movie to watch when your wife is actually pregnant. No, she didn't watch it with me. It just kind of weird when you're about to have a child. Because the movie is about this man eating murderous baby. And of course it looks horrible because all sorts of horrible CG is used throughout the flick. There's no real plot and the characters aren't very interesting. And mid-way through the movie something comes out about her trying to abort the baby with these all natural pills because she's a grad student, but they really don't go anywhere with it. Blah.

Jonah Hex: 7/10. Hmm. What a mixed bag. Brolin nails Hex's attitude, while the manic pace and over the top plot and F/X bear little resemblance to the comic. The themes of vengeance were a little heavy-handed, and the violence has been WAY toned down from the comic. Although there were a couple kills that reminded me of comic Hex. Brolin's Hex is nowhere near as mean as the comic version, but no one would like a movie of the comic Hex. For a watered-down, family friendly version of the meanest gunslinger the West ever knew, it's not bad. But it has little to do with the comic. Kinda like that Constantine movie a few years back.

Nick and Nora's Infinite Playlist .... 8.5/10 ... Pretty good flick. It's a sweet story, if a bit cliched at times. But I really like how music is woven into the whole thing. I just wonder if Michael Cera will be able to play anything other than the awkward teen.

Toy Story 3 - 8/10
I thought it was ok, but it needed more Zurg. However, Evil Dr. Porkchop and Mr. Tortilla Head were my favorite parts of the flick.

The Howling IV: New Moon Rising ... 3/10 ... I didn't even make it to the end. I fell asleep halfway through it because apparently, someone actually IN New Mexico decided to keep the franchise going. And he hired all his friends and everyone in the local community theater.

The Viking Sagas ... 5/10 ... It was pretty bland. It's narrated at times, but the choices of when it's narrated is pretty odd, and you get comfortable with no one narrating after a few minutes and then all of a sudden someone starts talking out of no where. Like I said, bland. Bland acting, bland editing.

Trust me, it was bland.
The Mangler ... 6.5/10 ... A movie about a man eating laundry machine. Need I elaborate?

The Blues Brothers ... 8/10 ... You know, I don't think I've ever sat down and seen this all the way through until last night. A lot of great music. Good movie.

Elsewhere ... 6/10 ... Basically, a slutty girl goes missing because she'll put out for just about anyone, and her straight laced best friend is determined to find out what happened. It's a pretty cookie cutter plot. It's decent, but not great either. There are some odd editing choices. And it's pretty easy to figure out who the bad guy is pretty quick. Like I said, decent, but not great.

Toy Story 3 - 10/10 ... ^^ Agreed. It's the way it should have been ended. And some of the funniest jokes I've seen in animation in a long time. And the short is before hand is extremely clever and makes a fantastic use of 2D.
Red Mist ... 7/10 ... Vanilla plot, a bunch of (in this case) med students get drunk/high, and because the retarded/loser dude has some dirt on them they decide to get him drunk/high too so he can't tattle. Well, of course said plan backfires putting the loser in a coma, and the now comatose loser decides to get his revenge through possession helped along by the one med student who felt sorry for the guy and actually displays a conscience. It's better done than most horror flicks, and the editing is better. But nothing you haven't seen before with this kind of plot.
